May Greenkeeper Update

Please find below an update from the greenkeepers about works recently completed and scheduled for this month:

Completed:

  • Bunkers have been scraped of mud and edged
  • Tree surgeon came on 30/04/24 to safely remove dead trees/branches around the course & entrance
  • Course furniture now out, including:
    • Benches and rakes
    • New tee markers (please do not move their position!)
    • Tee collection pots – these have been put out on the course as a trial for May as per requests of members. Please use these during your round as much as possible. If they have not been utilised much by 1st June, we will remove them. If they are used regularly, we will look into a more permanent option
  • Chain harrowed & seeded driving range – filled in ruts with sand/soil mix & rolled (we have noticed some growth already)
  • All of golf course is now cut down to summer height (including fairways, greens, tees and rough)
  • Member forums - thank you to everyone who attended these last month. We will be sending out a separate post next week with key points discussed. Due to low interest, we will not be running any further forums, but should you wish to arrange one with us directly, please email Rosie or leave a message with reception

Upcoming (all weather dependent, except final point):

  • Bunkers to be filled with additional sand
  • Spike, fertilise, seed & top dress worn areas on tees
  • Spike, roll & top dress greens
  • Will continue to add fertiliser & wetting agent to greens
  • Work to start on bottom holes as soon as it’s dry enough – 2 inches of rain last week (1 inch alone last Saturday night) and 2 more inches predicted tonight
  • Cut & trim grass around tee markers and 150 yard markers

General Notes:

  • Swans – beware and careful of these nesting on 1st – do not approach!
  • Footgolf – both courses shut due to how wet they still are
  • Please remember to repairing your divots & pitch marks
  • Signing in at reception before play - please don't head to first tee without doing so first
  • Pace of play - please remember 'Ready Golf' during your round to avoid slow play
  • Reminder about upcoming Bank Holiday Mondays - first tee will be at 07:00. Course open to Silver Members at no extra charge / weekend member guest rates will apply
