What does the Seniors Section offer at Basset Down?
Senior competitions are open to those 55+ years. We are hoping that both types of competition will go back to their normal format by the Summer. In the short term, entries will be managed slightly differently in reflection of government guidelines. Please keep an eye out on your emails for updates.
Roll Ups (9 Holes) are non-qualifying and open to both members and visitors. Cards can be put through as casual rounds for handicapping purposes (previously called supplementary cards) if declared beforehand. This year they will take place once per month starting at 09:30 and entry is £2.00, which is split between the winner taking all and a rolling 2’s pot.
Stablefords (18 holes) are qualifying competitions, and only open to members with an official handicap. Again, these are held once a month with a 09:30 start. Entry is £5 entry, with prizes for 1-3rd place.
If you have any questions regarding the above, please speak to Dave Kee. If you're unsure of who Dave is, our staff will point you in his direction.
Our Seniors also have an away day once a month from April to November which provides the opportunity to play other courses in the area. There are also matches against other clubs which are held roughly once a month throughout the summer. These are organised by Graham Short. If you are interested in taking part in matches, please email the club directly to be passed onto Graham for team selection.
Other competitions for Seniors include, charity events and also a Senior Club Championship. Details of Seniors' fixtures and results can be found here.
